Job Title: Wound Care Nurse
Location: Ain Al Khaleej Hospital, Al Ain, UAE
Job Summary:
The Wound Care Nurse is responsible for providing specialized assessment, treatment, and management of patients with acute, chronic, surgical, traumatic, and complex wounds. Working collaboratively with physicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Wound Care Nurse promotes evidence-based wound care practices, supports infection prevention, and educates patients, families, and staff to optimize healing outcomes and improve quality of care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, evaluate, and document wound conditions using evidence-based assessment tools.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized wound care treatment plans.
- Perform wound dressing changes, debridement (within scope of practice), negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), compression therapy, and other advanced wound care interventions.
- Monitor wound healing progress and revise care plans as clinically indicated.
- Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, podiatrists, dietitians, physiotherapists, infection prevention teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Identify patients at risk for pressure injuries and implement preventive strategies.
- Conduct regular skin and pressure injury assessments and recommend appropriate support surfaces and preventive measures.
- Educate patients and their families on wound care, pressure injury prevention, nutrition, and self-care following discharge.
- Provide education and clinical guidance to nursing staff on wound care best practices, products, and protocols.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Participate in wound care audits, quality improvement initiatives, and data collection to enhance patient outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention and control standards, and international best practices.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to discharge planning for patients requiring ongoing wound management.
- Maintain competency in current wound care technologies, products, and evidence-based practices through continuing professional development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license/eligibility as required by UAE regulatory authorities.
- Certification in Wound Care (MANDATORY).
- Minimum of 5 years of recent clinical nursing experience, with experience in wound care preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Life Support (ACLS) is an advantage.
