Introduction

Dr. Alrawi is a highly accomplished Consultant Surgical Oncologist with over 28 years of experience in advanced cancer care and multidisciplinary oncology management.

He currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Cancer Care Specialties, an independent oncology program operating across the Middle East, with active presence in the United Arab Emirates and Iraq, and ongoing expansion across the region.

Dr. Alrawi has held several prestigious leadership positions, including Director of Oncology Services within the VPS Healthcare system across the UAE and MENA region, where he contributed to the development of tertiary and quaternary referral cancer centers, including Burjeel Medical City. He also served as Director of Oncology Services at Al Zahra Hospital in Dubai, leading highly specialized surgical oncology programs across multiple subspecialties.

Previously, Dr. Alrawi was the Chief of the Surgical Oncology Division at Tawam Hospital, affiliated with Johns Hopkins Medicine, where he also served as the interim Chair of the Department of Surgery.

Dr. Alrawi specializes in gastrointestinal oncology, including esophageal, gastric, pancreatic, liver, and colorectal cancers, with additional expertise in endocrine surgery involving thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands. His approach integrates advanced minimally invasive techniques with comprehensive cancer care.

He received advanced surgical oncology training at leading international institutions, including Roswell Park Cancer Institute (USA), Royal Free Hospital (UK), and Ninewells Hospital (UK). He is American board-certified and completed fellowships in Surgical Oncology and Head & Neck Surgery.

Dr. Alrawi is actively involved in research and academic development, with over 50 peer-reviewed publications, more than 150 scientific presentations, and contributions to multiple medical book chapters. He is a frequent invited speaker at international conferences and is deeply committed to advancing cancer awareness, early detection, and multidisciplinary treatment approaches.
